Tamworth Sixth Form Maths Students celebrate early Christmas present with Senior Maths Challenge Success.
Twenty-three students at the Academy received awards (Gold, Silver or Bronze) with three of these being Gold. All three of our Goldwinners also qualified for the next rounds of the challenge; two of them were among the thousand best entries nationwide and have qualified for entry into the first round of the British Mathematical Olympiad. The good news continued as one student, Thomas Gessey Jones, had a perfect score of 125 in the competition.
Pictured below are students receiving their awards from Principal Dr Sarah Clark in front of the Academy Christmas tree. In addition to individual successes, the Academy team placed fourth out of twenty-four entrants in the Birmingham regional final of the Senior Maths Challenge. The Senior Maths Challenge is a competition for students in school Year 13 (and below) and is organised by the UK Mathematics Trust.
