Local MP Chris Pincher met with students from Tamworth Sixth Form Academy who have recently taken part in the National Citizen Service (NCS); a government initiative which is open to all 16 and 17-year-olds in England. Students from Tamworth Sixth Form Academy have taken part in the scheme, that has seen them enjoy a three-day residential at Standon Bowers Outdoor Pursuit Centre in Staffordshire which involved cycling, climbing and team building. This was then followed up by two separate projects.
One group created a memorial to the animals who played a major role in the First World War (placed on display in the library in Tamworth and opened by the Mayor of Tamworth). The other group took part in a scheme where they created gift parcels for several groups of people in the local community who are in need of essential items. Both projects have been very successful, and Chris Pincher was full of praise and admiration of the student’s efforts that have made such a positive impact on the local community.
