Over the summer our teams have been hard at work to prepare for the new academic year, and we are looking forward to welcoming (and welcoming back!) students to Tamworth Sixth Form from September.
Of course, we want our students to feel safe when they are at the Sixth Form, and we want to reassure parents and carers that their children’s wellbeing is our utmost priority.
That is why our team have put in a great deal of work in order to ensure their time at the Sixth Form is as safe as possible. We have carefully considered how best to group students together, to ensure we reduce contact between different groups of students, and how we can ensure the Sixth Form is rigorously cleaned on a regular basis.
As you can see below, we have produced a video outlining the changes we have made to life at the Sixth Form and the new safety measures we have put in place. From introducing a one-way system around the building, through to implementing a limit on the number of people allowed in any one room, we have worked to make sure social distancing is possible at all times.
In addition, we would recommend walking or cycling to the Sixth Form where possible to reduce the use of public transport. This is also a healthier option and allows students to take part in regular exercise.
Our students’ mental wellbeing is as important as their physical health and safety. That is why we will be providing additional emotional and wellbeing support for any student who requires it, and we will also be providing additional opportunities to support learning where this is needed.
Although students will be back at Tamworth Sixth Form from September, we will also be using online and home learning for the foreseeable future. Our team have worked hard to design a curriculum which combines remote learning with classroom-based education to ensure every student receives the same standard of education as in previous years. This move to a more independent style of learning will also ensure they are better prepared for university and a future after Sixth Form.
We know that the last few months have been incredibly challenging for all of our students, their families, and their communities. We have been forced to change so much about life at the Sixth Form, but what has not changed, and will never change, is how much we care about the happiness, health and wellbeing of all our students.
We are confident that our new safety measures will ensure students can continue their education in a safe, welcoming, environment, and we are excited to welcome you at the start of the new academic year.
