What do we do?
We are a group of students from Y12 and Y13 who go to Tamworth Youth Centre on Fridays after Sixth Form. We spend time learning about different subjects that we assist in the delivery of, such as: AIDS/HIV, awareness of relationships and sexual health, laws concerning sexual activity, drugs, alcohol and emotional health/wellbeing. We are mentored by Linda James from Staffordshire County Council, who is a qualified Youth Worker. The specialists have spent a lot of time teaching us and have taken time out of their busy schedules to teach us in and out of Sixth Form about issues surrounding teenage life.
We are here to support any students who may find they need to talk to someone about anything from drugs to issues with Academy work or their home lives. It is all confidential and we do not judge. We are here to provide support and advice and we are an alternative to talking to an adult.
How can you contact us?
You can contact us throughout the day, by approaching us within the Academy premises and arranging a time and place where you can speak to us on a one-to-one basis. You cannot approach us at inappropriate times of the day. If you feel comfortable speaking to a certain Peer Mentor, then times can be arranged for this to happen.
