Learning Resource Centre
The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is at the centre of independent learning and research at Tamworth Sixth Form and we aim to provide students with access to the resources and facilities needed to make studying at the Sixth Form a success. It has 40 study spaces and 30 PCs for students to use in study periods and break times, and there are also laptops for use within the Academy. All computers have access to standard software and the internet and there are printing and photocopier facilities are available in the LRC and throughout the Sixth Form Academy.
There are over 4000 book titles in the LRC, split into 3 main sections – Fiction, Non-Fiction and Texbooks – as well as a range of other resources including magazines, careers information, life skills, CDs and DVDs. The LRC operate an online catalogue to making the finding of resources easy and the subscribes to several online resources to ensure students have access to reliable, unbiased and up-to-date information.
LRC staff are on hand to offer individual help or whole class sessions on a range of study skills and research topics. Advice available includes finding information, making effective notes, avoiding plagiarism and writing a bibliography.
